The silver screen has been around for centuries now and has been adored by everyone that has lived in those era. The word “Movie” and “Film” are heard everywhere and has been present since we are kids. Our parents would introduce it to us, and it will became history to point where you’ll binge watch and your parents will break your CD into half for watching too much (at least that’s what happened to me).
A film is a great way to escape reality, a fantasy that we can escape with our minds and become our little world. I’ve been a fan of films ever since I laid my eye on one, and it has been greatly significant in my life until today.
2018 has been a great platform for movies. The year gave out a lot of hits and miss, a roller coaster to say the least, but of course, there are still a lot of stand-out that are worth your viewing.
So, without further ado, here are my top films of the year I’ve seen in 2018, in no particular order, and from my own opinion.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR
One of the biggest films this year and probably the one that left me most emotionally scarred. As the Marvel Cinematic grow over the course of 10 years, the bigger content they gave us and it just keeps getting better and better every film. Personally, I’m a great fan of this franchise and it has been following it since the first Iron Man, and I can’t begin how to tell how proud I am they’re come this far. Not only for Marvel, but to also the actors, crew, directors and producers that are involved with this franchise.
Well done from the Russo Brother. Ever since Captain America: The Winter Soldier, I knew that they were up for something spectacular. They really changed the game of doing the action scenes and storytelling. This jam-packed character of a film was well delivered, risky, but executed well. I felt for every character, and Thanos’ portrayal truly established his ” perfectly balance” philosophy.
This was a great seed planting of ending an era to start a new one in the MCU. Can’t wait to cry more for Endgame.
Most Memorable Moment: Thor’s entrance in Wakanda

THE DISASTER ARTIST
This is a movie that you should have the knowledge first of the source material or else you’ll be clueless throughout the film, which is the most infamous movie The Room, also known as one of the worst films ever made. And the ironic part of it is, it was a great film!
Directed and starred by James Franco along with his brother Dave Franco the film gave out the vibe of how it’s like being a tortured artist. The story follows the life of the infamous Tommy Wiseau (who is still an enigma to me) and how he complete the film.
The humor was great and James’ portrayal as Tommy was so convincing that I sometimes need to remind myself that it was Franco not actually Tommy.
Most Memorable Moment: Tommy Wiseau throwing a fit to perform the bed scene

MURDER ON THE ORION EXPRESS
Where do I even begin with this one?
First, it was visually stunning. The color scheming and cinematography was an A+, almost hypnotizing to watch.
Second, the cast ensemble. Usually a film with so much well known actors has the curse of being a huge let down, but this one wasn’t one of them. Every characters had their justice and just right screen time.
Third, the screenplay. I love every words they were sputtering. For an old era it was well understood and well thought out.
People tend to criticize on this film since it was compared to the old version, but this one for me was great. The nail-biting mystery was something that got me at edge of my seat.
Most Memorable Moment: The 12 apostles reference shot

THE INCREDIBLES 2
Story wise, it wasn’t really something new. Too predictable and generic. However, the thing that hit me the most was the nostalgia I felt while watching it. I was around 8 years old when this came out, and the fact that they let us wait for 14 years for the second part was just cruel for Pixar’s part.
Anyhow, the movie still had it’s adrenaline pumping factor and heartwarming content, given that the Incredible family never fails to let us adore them. Something about them that has us saying “Hey, they’re just like our family….but with powers.”
I also love how they did this movie as a platform of feminism. Riveting the story to Mrs. Incredible and making their hero is really a representation that is well needed in our time.
Most Memorable Moment: All of Jack-Jack’s scenes

BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY
Probably my MOST FAVORITE FILM in this list.
My heart was screaming joy and sadness, and the car was blasting Queen all throughout the ride home from the theater. Rami Malek was phenomenal as our beloved late, Freddie Mercury who is the lead singer of one of the greatest bands ever.
This was a biopic of his life, they’re songs, and the band itself. I’m a fan of Queen myself and their portrayal of them was just amazing.
The chemistry of the cast were all over the place and it was just one of the factors why this movie was so great. The humor was timely placed, a lot of chuckle to laugh-out-loud moments. The only problem was the story pacing, probably the most slammed about by the critics, but it was almost forgivable because of the performances they delivered.
All in all a memorable and celebrating film.
Most Memorable Moment: The live-aid performance

MAMMIA MIA 2: HERE WE GO AGAIN
Another nostalgia hitting movie that came out in 2018 was this prequel of the 2008 well-loved movie musical Mamma Mia.
There are just films that have you smiling all throughout the whole movie and this was it. This light-hearted musical was all for the ABBA fans out there, and the musical itself. The story was still as charming as its predecessor, and the addition of the cast that portrays the young versions of Donna and the Dynamos and the three possible dad’s of Sophie were very fitting and almost unbelievable how they were perfectly cast.
Lilly James as Donna (Meryl Streep) was a huge shoes to fill, but still she gave us the same energy and charm Meryl gave us in the first one.
My heart was so happy watching this film. Perfect for a family film that will just have you hugging or calling your mother after.
Most Memorable Moment: Baptism scene

GAME NIGHT
Dark humor is what live for in movies these days and this one has all of it! A kind of silly movie, but somehow brilliant.
Watching the film somehow made you feel like you’re in a game of Who, What, and Where? but mostly the question of WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING, but in a good way.
The screenplay were funny enough to have you laughing, and cast ensemble were also great.
Twist after twist, the movie delivered a ridiculous but entertaining must-watch
Most Memorable Moment: Bar gun point scene

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE : FALLOUT
Admit it, this franchise is something that you expect to flop after so many ones, but just keeps giving the opposite and instead becomes better and better.
So great that I don’t even know how the next one can top this off.
Tom Cruise being Tom Cruise. Check.
Intense action scenes. Check
Butt-clenching final act of the film. Check.
This one has all of it.
